Below are some popular questions we get in this industry.
This is the term used in the audio-visual industry for the person that runs the graphics machines used backstage during the corporate show. The graphics operator works with the projectionist, audio engineer, video switching and lighting, and all under the show direction of the Stage Manager.
Many different things can be called a show. Typically, shows are live staged corporate events, e.g. launch of a new product, or an annual sales meeting. Usually these shows have presenters who speak. Shows can also be recorded in a TV studio though, or at any venue imaginable…..a digital wall at a trade show that constantly changes content live, for example.
Design is usually done in the pre-planning stages. The graphics person at this point will come up with visual ideas, or match existing theme materials. These theme materials can be videos, logos, signage, even the actual staging itself. All these items should blend to create a cohesive image. A lot of times the designer then goes to the actual show venue and runs the show (turning into the graphics operator) but this is not always the case. And of course design changes are made on-site as the rehearsals dictate.
Not necessarily. Although we design both digital content and signs and banners for large and small scale shows, a designer can design anything! Brochures, cards, a presentation that will be played on a website or mailed out, a portfolio for your business, showing you off. Designers design!!!
